APTOS HIGH SCHOOL CLINIC
Cabrillo Gals is excited to continue where our winter clinics left off, by hosting our last of three softball clinics to continue the development of our softball players!
Just in time to work off your spring break rust, and get ready for league play, this Saturday, April 6, from 1 pm to 3:30 pm at Anna Jean Cummings park, Aptos Varsity Head Coach (and Cabrillo Gals alumni!) Erika Campbell, and her coaching staff will be hosting a advanced hitting clinic. This clinic is open to all current GALS players, and will be split onto two fields, with the 6U and 8U's on Field B and the 10U, 12U, and 14U's on field A.
At check in, a $10 clinic fee will be collected. The money will be split between Gals and Aptos High School. Private hitting lessons can be quite costly, so this is a bargain for the instruction our players will get!
This clinic will focus on all aspects of hitting, including proper mindset, hitting mechanics, slap hitting, and bunting. Please bring your glove, cleats, and a bat and helmet if you have one (there will be plenty of them to borrow at the clinic as well) softball pants, and a great attitude!
A few notes about Erika:
She began playing softball for Cabrillo Gals before she left to play for the Salinas Storm, where she played on the same team as future Olympic pitcher, Monica Abbott. Campbell was a three-year varsity player at Aptos High and helped lead the team to three straight Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League titles. She played collegiately at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo and Sonoma State, where she earned all-conference honors.
Campbell's coaching career includes three years as an assistant at Sonoma State, where she worked with infielders, base runners and bunters. She was also strength and conditioning coach there. Most recently she worked as co-head coach at NCAA Division I Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
